How much does a wall mural cost?

The short answer: it depends on the wall. The honest answer is right here – so you don't have to call around asking for quotes in the dark. I'm Kenneth, I paint murals in Drøbak, Follo and the Oslo area, and here's what actually drives the price of a wall mural.

What drives the price?
Size: a small kids'-room wall and a whole facade are two different projects – most of us price by the square metre.
Motif and detail: a clean, graphic look goes faster than a dense tangle of detail and portraits.
Surface, access and concept: does the wall need priming first? Indoors, or scaffolding/a lift? And should I develop the concept from scratch, or do you have a clear idea?
Words from a client
«The FAU at Drøbak School has on several occasions had the pleasure of getting help with artistic contributions and decor from KAAAM. Creative, fun and above all professional results, made both on indoor walls and on asphalt outside. A huge resource who always shows up when asked. Highly recommended.»

What are the prices in Norway? Professional muralists typically charge NOK 1,000–5,000 per square metre – smaller jobs can be a few thousand kroner, large facades more. With me, the guideline rate is NOK 500 per hour with the concept and sketch phase included. 25% is invoiced once we agree on the sketch, the rest when the wall is finished. Materials come on top – and you always get a price range before we start. Don't like the sketch? We don't paint.
Where I work
Based in Drøbak and the Follo/Oslo area year-round, and in Italy in summer. I take on projects wherever it suits.
